Bridges Online-November Edition

It is hard to believe the holiday season is already upon us! With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we have so much to be grateful for. As we approach November 11th, we especially want to honor and thank those serving in active duty and all our Veterans. Your dedication to defending our freedoms is a service that should NEVER go unrecognized.

Inside this issue of Bridges, you will get a recap of our most recent events and a look at what exciting things are coming next.

IREAD-3 Scores Top in Region!

Hebron Elementary School participated in the Indiana Literacy Cadre during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years. The Indiana Literacy Cadre is a statewide initiative providing professional development, coaching, and support to K-3 educators to improve early literacy skills across Indiana. Its work focuses on implementing evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading to help all students become proficient readers. The main goal is to significantly increase the percentage of Indiana students who pass the IREAD-3 assessment, aiming for 95% proficiency by 2027.

From The NWI Times (August 2025)

The Metropolitan School District of Boone Township in Hebron scored the highest on this year's IREAD among school districts in Northwest Indiana, with 98.7% of third graders passing the assessment.
"We are incredibly proud of our third-grade students and their outstanding performance on the IREAD assessment," said Superintendent Jeff Brooks in a statement to The Times. "This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our amazing teachers, staff and families here at Hebron."

Fieldhouse Addition

The Hebron High School Fieldhouse addition is moving toward its final approval, with the school district completing the planning phase following a public bid hearing in October. This nearly 25,000-square-foot, $12.5 million multi-purpose addition is designed to be a versatile, expansive space for the entire community, not just athletic teams. Key features include two full-size indoor courts, a dedicated wrestling room, public restrooms, and new locker rooms. The facility will incorporate all-purpose flooring capable of handling uses that the main gym's existing wooden floor cannot withstand. Beyond its features, this significant investment will make the space accessible to all school groups and many outside organizations looking to host large events, while simultaneously helping to preserve our existing facilities for many years to come. Construction is set to begin in March of 2026!
